Katie Holmes looked effortlessly chic in a white blouse and grey jeans as she stepped out in Midtown,New York on Friday. 

The actress,45,couldn't wipe the smile off her face as she was seen out and about in the big apple.

She teamed her look with chic black ballet pumps and a tan leather handbag during her outing.

The Dawson's Creek alum is currently rehearsing at at the Barrymore Theatre for the new production of Thornton Wilder's Our Town. 

Katie made her Broadway debut in 2008 for a production of All My Sons,and last appeared on Broadway in 2012's Dead Accounts.

The Top Gun star is estranged from his youngest child because she is not a member of Scientology,and is considered a 'suppressive person.' 

In their divorce,Cruise agreed to pay Holmes $38,000 a month in child support,which ended when Suri turned 18.  He also agreed to cover her college costs. Tuition is currently $68,000 a year. 

One of the acting courses available at Carnegie Mellon focuses on the films of Stanley Kubrick,which include his works from 1967-1999. 

Among those are; Paths of Glory,Lolita,Dr. Strangelove,the Oscar winning 2001: A Space Odyssey,  and Eyes Wide Shut,starring Cruise and then-wife Nicole Kidman.
